My husband (http://lowerfood.blogspot.com) and I decided we wanted to make baguetts over the weekend. They turned out pretty well. I'm learning that making bread is a seriously labourious task. Full of: waiting around, seemingly random rearranging of the dough and pampering the yeast. However, it is immensely satisfying to have a fresh loaf, stick whatever from the oven and know that you made it work.

these look great. i m not good in bread making ;(
I've been wanting to make baguettes since I found my step-dad's pans. I hope they come out as pretty as yours. Look great! Will you post your recipe??
Sorry tealady the recipe for this is pretty huge! It's from the amazing Hammlin book. I do have some advice though if you are making bread at home though: make sure you 'wet' the oven and steam it. To wet, you place a small pan on the bottom of the oven and before you put the bread in you put in a couple of ice cubes. Then to steam, make sure you have an enamel pan in the bottom of your oven that has been heating as your oven has been. Then you boil some water (around one cup) and place the boiled water in the enamel pan. Vola! You have some steam! I hope this helps, and I'm sorry about the recipe!
Those look absolutely amazing and delish! I love fresh bread!
